Download of the day - Download StatusBar is a Mozilla Firefox extension (apologies to non-Firefox users) which adds a bar to the bottom of your browser to let you know the progress of downloads. Mousing over a download pops up a window showing the download link, where on your hard drive the file is going, the file size, how much time is left, and the speed of the download. Once the download is finished, you can double-click the box to begin installing the file without leaving Firefox.
Convert that file! - www.zamzar.com -- Before Zamzar, you had to download a utility or two or three to be able to convert file formats. But with Zamzar, you can convert anything images, documents, and videos and have it e-mailed to your inbox in four quick steps without downloading a thing. A new feature lets you convert files from URLs, which means you can save YouTube videos to your hard drive without breaking a sweat.

After talking a bit about Popcorn Hour - my daily news scan picked up this graph about IPTV and which countries are using it. The US isn't on the map yet... but I'm thinking it will be soon.
Along with the tech tip about Zamzar on Monday, comes a way to convert PDFs to other formats, like .DOCs. **Koolwire**(doc[at]koolwire.com): Koolwire is a web service that allows you to upload a PDF file or send it via email as an attachment, will convert it to RTF format for you, and will email the converted document back.
I think I have found the best plug-in for Firefox yet... maybe for you too, if you are a productivity geek like me. Try installing Hyperwords from http://www.hyperwords.net/ and be amazed!
This one is for you aspiring web designers out there - the Online Gradient Image Maker (OGIM) is a comprehensive tool for generating web graphics, that ranges from a simple 1px wide/tall image for css repeating, to a complex 3D like images with text, reflections and other visual effects, which are more suited for buttons, tabs, banners and other web elements.
